As the name suggests, the PVD Social Club is a social meeting place-cum-music venue. Located in downtown Providence, the building is a class apart from other state houses. The self supporting dome is the fourth largest in the world. The entrance itself promises to take you in a different world. The notable rooms are 'the Bell' room featuring Philadelphia Liberty Bell and Battle flags, The Rotunda is flanked by artistic stairways. WaterFire is a magnificent array of 100 bonfires that illuminate the three rivers of Providence. The string of fires blaze above the surface of the Providence River, one of three, which passes through the middle of the city core. These fires trail nearly two-thirds of a mile of parks and public spaces where people can stroll along the riverbanks while listening to music and watching the displays. The fires are lit approximately 20 minutes after sunset each Saturday and usually burn for two to three hours.

This striking edifice at the bottom of College Hill facing downtown Providence was built in 1774 and 1775, but the congregation was actually formed in 1638 by religious freedom advocate, Roger Williams. Williams was credited with founding Rhode Island for white Europeans. The building is a historic landmark, offering services at 11am on Sunday mornings. Because of the grandeur, significance and location of the church, it is also used for other special functions, including part of the graduation ceremonies of Brown University, which is located nearby.
