Located by the Tulsa International Airport in an airplane hangar built in 1940, this facility features displays of actual aircrafts and a variety of hands-on activities. Educational for the whole family, the Air and Space Museum emphasizes Tulsa's history in aerospace. In fact, nearly all of the aircraft on display have a historical significance to Tulsa. Over 14,000 square feet of space is utilized to make this a must-see for history buffs, aviation enthusiasts and children.
This sprawling 2,800-acre park near Tulsa International Airport includes the Tulsa Zoo, a reservoir with boating and fishing, riding trails, a golf course and acres of wooded picnic areas. Also within the park is the Oxley Nature Center, consisting of 800-acres of protected land with hiking trails for students of nature. Come and spend the day. The park entrance is located one half-mile east of North Sheridan on 36th Street North. Sheltered picnic areas can be reserved.

Spread over 70 acres within Mohawk Park on the northern edge of Tulsa, the Tulsa Zoo is home to over 1500 animals. The beautifully landscaped paths provide views of tigers, elephants, bears, chimpanzees and many other species. Animal demonstrations are scheduled throughout the week, and special seasonal exhibits are also presented, such as "
"Wings of Wonder, an aviary filled with thousands of rare butterflies. The zoo also features a children's zoo and many educational exhibits relating to zoology and the natural sciences, such as the North American Living Museum, making it a favorite educational trip for children.
Set on about five square miles in the heart of South Tulsa, LaFortune Park is a favorite outdoor spot for many Tulsans. Besides wooded picnic and playground areas, the park contains a golf course, baseball diamonds and batting cages, a community center, a public swimming pool, a walking trail and a par course. Certain picnic areas are available to reserve for parties. Come and get a workout, or just relax and enjoy the scenery. There is something recreational here for just about everyone. The main entrance is on South Yale Avenue between East 61st Street and East 51st Street.
ORU's unique architecture and history draw many tourists from all over the world. The Prayer Tower in the center of campus is open to the public and features the "Journey Into Faith," a multimedia presentation of Oral Roberts' ministry and the university. The beautifully landscaped Prayer Gardens below the tower are a wonderful place to sit and rest. Visitors may shop the Campus Bookstore or be part of the studio audience for Richard and Lindsey Roberts' TV show, broadcast live from the Mabee Center at 8p nightly. The 60-acre campus is laid out to encourage walking, so the physically challenged might need a little help.

Formerly a private mansion, the Villa Philbrook near downtown Tulsa was donated by its residents more than 50 years ago for use as an art museum. Besides hosting special temporary exhibits throughout the year, this massive structure holds thousands of permanent exhibits from European, American, Asian, African and Native American artists. Built in the Italian villa style, the house itself is a work of art. Going through its many rooms gives one the feel of viewing someone's personal art collection. In addition to the museum itself, the Philbrook also has acres of beautiful gardens, which are open to the public, a lecture theater, restaurant and gift shop. Admission rates vary.

Along the banks of the Arkansas River between the 11th Street Bridge and 81st Street, and along Riverside Drive, are the River Parks. A walking/biking trail stretches 10 miles from 11th Street to 101st Street along the east bank of the river. Scattered along the east bank are numerous picnic and recreation areas, decorated with murals and statues. On the west bank on South Jackson near downtown is River West Festival Park, a unique venue with an amphitheater and floating stage. Celebrate the life and times of America's most beloved cowboy comedian. This 62-year-old museum really captures the world in which Rogers lived. Western artwork fills one of eight galleries, while others display memorabilia from the entertainer's varied and full career as a screen actor, radio personality, writer and cowboy. The Rogers family tomb is also located on the grounds. Located in Claremore, the museum is a bit outside of the Tulsa metro, but it is definitely worth the drive. Admission is by voluntary contribution.

Set on a 460-acre plot of land in northwest Tulsa, the Gilcrease Museum houses over 10,000 artistic pieces, including the world's largest single art collection from Western America. There are also a huge number of Native American artifacts and artistic offerings on display. Gilcrease also presents 23 acres of thematic gardens showcasing the gardening styles of different time periods in the American West. All of this is free of charge, with donations accepted. When you need a rest, feel free to browse the gift shop or enjoy a meal in the elegant Osage Restaurant. Free guided tours of the museum are also offered at 2p daily (special exhibitions are ticketed).
In existence since 1893, this church is one of Tulsa's oldest. Its current structure, built in 1929, features Art Deco architecture and includes a tower 255 feet high that rises into Tulsa's skyline. The tower itself also contains 15 floors of useable space, and the sanctuary features a huge pipe organ valued at over $1 million.
