Good for both large and smaller events, the Brownsville Events Center is a beautiful building in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley. The main ballroom can house almost 1000 people or space can be divided into 5 smaller spaces for more intimate venues. Even children have their own special museum in Brownsville, with "exhibits" suited just for them. At the museum, kids can interact with other children from the area if fun playacting settings. At All the Worlds Cafe, kids can work the kitchens, serve the customers, or patronize the cafe. At the Weather Station, children can learn about and create mini-tornadoes. Also a fun place to host birthday parties, kids can choose from four different themes.

If you like interesting architecture and history, you might want to head over to the Historic Brownsville Museum. The architecture of the Museum, which was first a Southern Pacific Depot Building and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The inside of the building houses a collection of artifacts from the area's past, dating as far back as the Mexican-American War. On the same site is also a gift shop and an education center, perfect for hosting most events.

The Old City Cemetery Center is not as spooky as it sounds. Besides graves, the center is also interested in the folk art and customs of the area, especially as pertaining to the cemetery. One of the most distinctive cemeteries in the Rio Grande Valley, the architecture in the cemetery are worth noticing. The Center hopes to enrich the community with information and programs on the cemetery and surrounding neighborhood. Old City Cemetery Walking Tour leave the center every Friday at 10:00.

Check back often at the Aiken Education Center, as they are constantly changing exhibits to bring a wide variety of interesting, informative, and provocative displays of art. Besides the exhibits, the Aiken Education Center is also often hosts book signings or lectures and is a great place for a cultural education. Located in the same complex as the Stillman House Museum and Brownsville Heritage Museum.

If you are itching to learn about Brownsville's illustrious past, a trip to the Brownsville Heritage Museum will satisfy your urge. Portraying the development of Brownsville and its environs up through the first half of the 20th century, this museum has been awarded the Texas Historical Commission's Award of Merit. The museum features displays of art, artifacts, and a large collection of everyday clothing, one of the gems of the museum.

Held on Friday mornings, the Old City Cemetery Walking Tour is put on by the Brownsville Historical Association. With great stone and architecture, the Old Cemetery is truly a remarkable place, whether for the dead or for those who are living. Those taking the tour will also hear stories about the people buried, providing an insight into the lives of people long dead and times gone by. A must for any history buff.

The Stillman House Museum was home to Charles Stillman, the founder of Brownsville, a man who helped transport troops on his riverboat during the Mexican-American War. The Stillman House Museum displays relics from the Brownsville of years gone by. Although the furnishings may not be the originals which the Stillman's used, they are from the period in which the house was built and used.

Bringing fine art to southern Texas, the Brownsville Museum of Fine Art enriches the community not only by displaying works of art and providing lectures and opportunities to interact with the art world, but also by giving resident of the area access to classes about and to help them participate in art. Opened in 2006, the museum also has a store so you can take home a little bit of the art to add to your daily life.

At 31 acres (.13 square kilometers), the Gladys Porter Zoo has a variety of animals to watch and learn about the animal world. Animals such as tortoises, flamingos, wallabies, crocodiles, giraffes, lions, and rhinoceroses are all residents. For those who like reptiles and fish, there is a herpetarium and an aquatic portion of the zoo. There is an area to feed birds, and along with animals, there is a variety of plant life to help simulate different areas around the world.
