1 Beachside Drive
Orchid, FL 32963
+1 772 388 2350
This windy course is characterized by gentle mounds that run throughout its design. The Orchid Island Golf & Beach Club has big sand traps and occasional stands of trees. Most of the course is open to the prevailing wind. The greens are medium in size and feature some substantial slopes. Both nines close with par-5s. Numbers 2,10 and 17 are long par-4s. One of the par-5s is nearly 600 yards from the Palmer tees. The par-3s vary from 153 to 244 yards from those same tees. This is a private golf course. Metal spikes are tolerated, but not encouraged.

Vero Beach, FL 32967

The Dunes is one of two excellent public courses at Sandridge Golf Club. This course winds in and around natural inland dunes. The front nine is very tight, while the back nine is more like a links course. Greens and tees are elevated and only four holes have water. The par-5s are less than 530 yards, except for the final hole, which is 568 yards. The par-3s are from 156 to 217 yards. This is a public golf course. Metal spikes are tolerated, but not encouraged.

800 30th Street
Vero Beach, FL 32960
+1 772 562 3320
The par is 72. Championship Tees are 6589 yards and the slope is 132. Medal Tees are 6175 yards and the slope is 124. Middle Tees are 5904 yards and the slope is 119. Standard Tees are 5470 yards and the slope is 112. Forward Tees are 5148 yards and the slope is 110. Vero Beach Country Club was conceived by Herbert Strong in 1924. Charles Ankrom redesigned the layout in 1985. Mature trees grace many holes. The final hole is a short but frightening par-3. The par-5s are short, with only one more than 500 yards. The par-3s range from 131 to 181 yards. There are also two long par-4s, but the rest are between 350 and 380 yards from the Blue tees. This is a private golf course. Soft spikes only.

Vero Beach, FL 32966
+1 772 562 6300
The par is 62. Blue Tees are 3657 yards and the slope is 104. White Tees are 3458 yards and the slope is 103. Red Tees are 3143 yards and the slope is 99. This 1985 Arthur Hills-designed course has 17 holes with a water hazard. The par-4 holes are often doglegs. There is also more sand than customary on an executive course. The par-4s top out at 338 yards from the Blue tees. The par-3s are from 97 to 165 yards. This is a semi-private golf course. Soft spikes only. Greens Fees are subject to change.

Vero Beach, FL 32963

This course, designed in 1992 by Robert Trent Jones, is exposed to considerable wind from the Atlantic Ocean, just across Highway A1A. It's a links-style layout, well trapped, with lots of water. Minor mounding is present throughout the course. The par-5s are quite long from the Gold tees, from 531 to 591 yards. There are four par-4s of considerably more than 400 yards. The par-3s are medium to long. This is a private golf course. Metal spikes are tolerated, but not encouraged.

1650 South Highland Park Drive
Lake Wales, FL 33898
+1 863 679 9478
The par is 72. Green Tees are 6009 yards and the slope 124. Gold Tees are 5778 yards and the slope is 118. Silver Tees are 5116 yards and the slope is 113. This course was designed and built in 1927 by the team of Stiles and Van Kleek. It is quite short from all tees, yet retains a relatively high slope rating for its yardage. There is no water. Subtle elevation shifts and intelligent design combine to deliver a pleasant, if dry, test. The course has holes bordered by both pine and citrus trees. The yardage on all holes is comfortably average, if not short. This is a public golf course. Metal spikes are tolerated, but not encouraged.

2925 Highway 60 East
Lake Wales, FL 33898
+1 863 676 2422
The par is 72. Blue Tees are 6504 yards and the slope is 119. White Tees are 6171 yards and the slope is 115. Gold Tees are 5364 yards and the slope is 122. Red Tees are 4990 yards and the slope is 120. This course, which dates to 1923, is not long or brutal. It's a Donald Ross course, so if you play well, you score well. Luck is not a factor on a Ross course. You have to earn a good score. The par-5s are short, running from 475 to 520 yards. The par-3s are different in length and character. There is one long par-4, but there is also one that is only 287 yards from the Blue tees. This is a private golf course. Soft spikes only.

Lake Wales, FL 33898

The challenging tees spread over green yards, sure make a fine golf game. Oak trees, some of them quite large, are plentiful on this course. There are also many sand traps, mounds and berms. Wetland areas are a major factor on several holes. This is a public golf course, where only soft spikes are allowed.

3255 Jupiter Boulevard Southeast
Palm Bay, FL 32909
+1 407 723 1956
This course was designed, and is currently managed by George Eck. It opened in 1996. There is a lot of water along with a few traps. There are two par-4s. Both are just under 300 yards. The par-3s have yardages from 100 to 135, according to the scorecard. This little course is no pushover. This is a public golf course. Metal spikes are tolerated, but not encouraged.

3375 Bayside Lakes Boulevard
Palm Bay, FL 32909
+1 321 952 8617
This is essentially a flat golf course. Palmer has sprinkled a significant number of traps about the course; they can be deep, so it's best to avoid them altogether. The course winds through a thickly wooded area. There is also a remarkable practice area. The par-3s measure 190 to 220 yards. The par-5s are 547 to 583 yards. The par-4s are long from either of the back tees. Once you reach the Medal tees, the par-4 distances are more rational. This is a public golf course. Only soft spikes are allowed.
