Life on a 19th-century farm is depicted at this bucolic 140-acre property just outside Westminster. The buildings include a restored farmhouse, where tours are given by costumed guides, a barn, general store, a veterinary surgeon's office, quilting room and other outbuildings. Carroll County Farm Museum displays antique tractors, farm machinery and other equipment. Artisans demonstrate 19th-century skills. A pond and farm animals add to the "farm" experience.

This unusual festival offers a chance to explore other cultures through a series of workshops held at Western Maryland College. Generally, participants in Common Ground On The Hill enroll in classes ranging from the music of Africa to the sounds of Appalachia. There are also workshops on Celtic printmaking, metalsmithing, origami and sweet grass basketry, as well as structured children's programs. Nightly concerts feature instructors and students. A two-day American Music & Arts Festival, held at the nearby Carroll County Farm Museum, ends the week-long event. Workshops and festival costs vary.

Maryland's Annual State Fair occurs here at the state's Fairgrounds. Assembled onto this vast ground are various cattle and livestock enclosures, stages and joy rides. The fair itself attracts a crowd of 600,000 plus from all over the country. The ground has progressed over the years and now includes ample parking area, camping grounds hand washing stations and is also more accessible to all.  

This 13-mile paved trail stretches from suburban Glen Burnie to Annapolis, affording bicyclists, skaters and walkers a respite from the hustle and bustle of Baltimore's encroaching suburbs. Baltimore & Annapolis Trail Park attracts about 1.5 million people annually and is one of the most popular bicycling-hiking trails in the region. The linear park is 66-foot wide from beginning to end. Parking is available at Route 450 (Ritchie Highway) and Boulter's Way in Annapolis, and at the northern Earleigh Heights Road in Severna Park. The park opens daily at 7am.

This unique museum was established as the U.S. Army's repository for captured and prototype weapons. The main building houses thousands of small arms, but what makes the museum worth the trip to Aberdeen are the more than 200 tanks that cover over 25 acres. The long, long rows of these massive and extremely dangerous machines is truly awe inspiring. Also on display are a variety of missiles, a German railroad cannon from World War II and the U.S. Army's own 'atomic cannon.'

Famous all over as the makers of the award-winning Doggie Style Classic Pale Ale, Flying Dog Brewery is located on the Wedgewood Boulevard, in the outskirts of city Frederick. Initiated by George Stranahan, this state-of-the-art brewery opens its doors for visitors who get a chance to tour the facility and also taste five of the beers from its beer list. Revel Grove is a fictional town that is set up at the The Maryland Renaissance Festival site. This village takes up the form of an English town back in the 16th Century.
