Located inside the golden-domed Fisher Building in Detroit's New Center, the Fisher Theatre has long been Detroit's venue for touring productions of Broadway plays and musicals. These and other national theatrical productions usually fill the seats at this meticulously renovated historic gem. The lobby of the Fisher Building is spectacularly ornate and the theater itself is grand. Over the years, it has been Detroit's stable window on the world of theater and one of the most elegant destinations in the city. All the seats, even in the balcony, are good ones.

This is one of the earliest known children's museums in the United States, and comprises an extensive collection of artifacts and other exhibits related to the history. The main hall is where numerous fossils, recreated models of dinosaurs, rocks, crystals, masks and costumes belonging to cultures across the world, are put on display. The museum also features an interactive display of stars inside its planetarium, where the kids can learn about constellations through a fun exhibit. Under the aegis of Detroit Public Schools (DPS), various field trips are organized which attracts thousands of students every year. The Contemporary Art Institute of Detroit or CAID, as it is usually called, is one of the major landmarks of Detroit. The art institute hosts art workshops, exhibitions, and various other events focused on modernizing art. It is famous for organizing contemporary music and art festivals, bringing together world-renowned artists and maestros for live performances. Opening hours vary according to the event. Elaborate Italian architecture gives a unique appeal to this mansion built in the early 20th Century. Al-Haqq Mosque is located in a simple red brick building which may easily pass for an office or a residential building, but take a closer look and you will find that it's a prayer hall. Prayers are held five times a day, with the people kneeling on beautiful Turkish or Persian carpets. The interiors, like the exterior of the building, is simple, but the serene atmosphere and melodious chants makes it a heavenly abode. Pay a visit to the mosque and make good use of your time. Baitul Mukarram Masjid lacks the artwork that generally adorns other mosques, but the place is not in anyway lesser than others when it comes to prayers. Six times a day, worshipers remove their sandals, wash their hands, feet and faces, and get ready for prayer. The prayer timings are fixed by the mosque clergy and are according to Arabian customs. The Detroit Zoological Park is one of the nation's oldest and most stately zoos. Its huge main campus is located on land situated in the suburb of Huntington Woods but owned by the city of Detroit. Renovations of many of the zoo's older buildings and new exhibits have modernized the zoo. Popular exhibits include the new Amphibiville, home of the National Amphibian Conservation Center, a Wildlife Interpretive Center and adjacent butterfly/hummingbird gallery, a chimpanzee exhibit, a penguinarium and a model farm. The grounds are large and a free train is often crowded in summer.
