St. Hedwig Roman Catholic church is testament to the city's large Polish population. In fact, Saint Hedwig, also known as Jadwiga of Poland, was a queen and saint of Poland. St. Hedwig features several different architectural styles such as Romanesque and Gothic, and it was designed by local architect Henry Messmer.

Brady Street is one of the city's most lively streets thanks to numerous bars, restaurants, and shops. These nine blocks are popular among a young, hip crowd as well as families. The restaurants features various cuisines including Mexican, American, Italian and Mediterranean. Shoppers will be delighted to find many cute boutiques, most of which specialize in vintage gifts and clothing. Pere Marquette is a beautiful, 1.9-acre park with a slightly-European feel located in downtown Milwaukee. In fact, it is located right on the Milwaukee River which, understandably, adds to its charm. During the summer months, this park is home sunbathers and picnickers, and it also plays host to the River Rhythms concert series. On Friday nights in August, don't miss the open-air cinema. During the winter it is the site of the Holiday Lights Festival.

The central branch of the Milwaukee Public Library is a beautiful, ornate building located in downtown Milwaukee. The library has fairly extensive hours, so there is plenty of time for members to appreciate the rooms and rooms of publications. The library also has a special section devoted to children's literature, and the library even organizes summer camps. It's the perfect way to spark your child's interest in reading. The Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery is actually part of a chain, but the Milwaukee location is quite possibly the best thanks to its perfect location right on the Riverwalk. The Milwaukee River is 75 miles long and literally cuts the city in half. Both sides of the river are home to residential neighborhoods as well commercial areas, and the river itself offers lovely views form both sides as well as sightseeing cruises and even a boat cruise of the local breweries. The Riverwalk/a>, a stretch of restaurants and cafes along the river, is an enjoyable place to spend the day.

The Milwaukee Public Museum is a huge complex devoted to natural history and anthropology. It also houses an IMAX theater and Planetarium. The museum, which originally opened in 1882, houses over six million specimens and spans three floors. The exhibits cover all seven continents and trace the origins of early civilizations. The sections devoted to the dinosaurs, to Native American history and to the history of Milwaukee are especially interesting. Children and adults will both be delighted to find a room full of live butterflies!

The Grohmann Museum, located on the campus of the Milwaukee School of Engineering, is one of a kind. Opened in 2007, this museum features a comprehensive collection of art tracing the evolution of men and women at work. The museum boasts three floors and a roof-top sculpture garden. The museum was named for Dr. Eckhart Grohmann, an avid collector who donated most of the museum's content. This unique museum should be a must on any Milwaukee visitor's list.

The Church of the Gesu is a Catholic Jesuit church located on the campus of Marquette University. This astonishing church is actually over a century old--it was built back in the 1890s. Gesu is the Italian name for Jesus. This name was chosen to honor the Church of Gesu in Rome, the burial place of St. Ignatius Loyal, the founder of the Jesuit Society. This church, like many in Milwaukee, earned a spot on the National Register of Historic Places, and in 1975 is was designated a Milwaukee landmark.
