This windy course is characterized by gentle mounds that run throughout its design. The Orchid Island Golf & Beach Club has big sand traps and occasional stands of trees. Most of the course is open to the prevailing wind. The greens are medium in size and feature some substantial slopes. Both nines close with par-5s. Numbers 2,10 and 17 are long par-4s. 2229 Falls Circle Vero Beach, FL 32967 +1 772 562 9000

Sand traps complement the numerous water hazards. The course is flat, with trees rimming many fairways. The greens are medium sized. The par-3s are medium to long. The par-4s are short. One par-5 stretches almost 600 yards and the rest are quite long. This is a private golf course. Soft spikes only.
6001 Clubhouse Drive Vero Beach, FL 32967 +1 772 567 6838
This 1979 Joe Lee designed course features a front nine thickly cloaked in trees and a back nine that has a more open feel. The greens are big, mounded, elevated and fast. Sand traps are responsible for narrowing the fairways and defending the greens. There are quite a few of them. The Bent Pine Golf Club course has two long par-5s along with two short ones. There are also three long par-4s. The par-3 lengths are reasonable. This is a private golf course. Only soft spikes are allowed. The green fees are subject to change.
1100 South Highland Street Mount Dora, FL 32757 +1 352 383 3954

Metal spikes are tolerated, but not encouraged. Greens fees: $20 includes cart. Open daily 7pm onwards.
1900 Country Club Boulevard Mount Dora, FL 32757 +1 352 735 2263

The par is 62. Blue Tees are 3752 yards and slope is 95. White Tees are 3503 yards and slope is 87. Red Tees are 3203 yard and slope is 91. This sturdy executive layout is no cinch. More than half its holes have some water. There is also some restrained but effective bunkering. The par-3s measure from 100 to 206 yards from the Blue tees. The par-4s range from 230 to 334 yards. These measurements decrease only slightly from the White and Red tees. Baytree Golf Course is a semi-private golf course. Metal spikes are tolerated, but not encouraged.

This course is only open to non-members during the summer. Built in 1972, it plays tough for its modest slope rating. Although the Continental Country Club is not long, it is somewhat narrow in the Ron Garl architectural tradition. The par-5s are short with a pair of 470-yard holes and a pair of 520-yard holes. The par-3s are split, with the front nine's pair measuring about 150 yards and the pair on the back just over 200 yards. This is a semi-private golf course. Soft spikes only.
