Curator Duane Rider has spent a major part of his life collecting Roberto Clemente memorabilia. Once his ever-expanding collection couldn't find any more room in his house, he decided to make it public through the Roberto Clemente Museum. The museum, aided by the support of Roberto Clemente's wife Vera Clemente, has a complete collection of photographs (Duane Rider was a commercial photographer himself), balls, statues, caps and jerseys, all forming an integral part of Roberto Clemente's baseball career. Having loved and vowed Pittsburgh natives for 12 years through his performances for the Pirates, the museum hopes to preserve his memories, which in turn last forever. The museum is open by appointment only.
