Run by a husband-and-wife team, Nancy and Kent Smith care for more than just wolves. The Shy Wolf Sanctuary houses exotic animals who were bred in captivity, including Wolfdogs, Cougars, Coyotes, Fennec Foxes, Sugar Gliders, Prairie Dogs, a Jaguar-Leopard, and Florida Gopher Tortoise. All of the animals are either stray, injured or endangered. Their mission spawns further into the community in order to raise awareness about responsibility and respect for these creatures. Visitors must call to schedule a private group tour or a Personal Animal Encounter educational program. There is no admission fee, but donations are very welcomed and appreciated.

The mission of the Conservancy of Southwest Florida is to preserve the natural habitats of the region while promoting environmental awareness and responsibility through educational programs. The 21-acre Nature Center is located in the heart of Naples and has recreational activities such as electric boat cruises, kayak and canoe rentals, walking trails, and guided kayak tours. If you'd like to experience the outdoors while remaining indoors, the preserve also has The Nature Store, The Discovery Center, The Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and other educational facilities. The months of November through April include cruises on the Good Fortune pontoon boat and free guided nature walks at Clam Pass and Tigertail Beach on Marco Island. The park is open daily from 8a to sundown. Restrooms, outdoor showers and a wheelchair ramp make this beach experience easier and more enjoyable. Parking is available for those with a beach parking permit and metered spots are available as well. Located near the hub of downtown, the Lowdermilk Beach Park is a great way to get away without having to skip town.
