The Freetown Village aims at promoting art and culture amongst the African-American Community. It was started by Ophelia Wellington who wanted to spread a word or two about the Afro-American history. The Freetown Village organizes various theatre performances, dances and African cultural programs which aim to spread awareness of the African community in Indiana. They also conduct research work on the history of the community in Indiana and even hold camps, workshops, organize tours, walks and other outdoor activities for children. The Freetown Village also has a very creative and well trained team of troops who are available for performances.

The Athenaeum Foundation is a German American community center, which is an architectural landmark on the National Register of Historic Places.
