The McAllen Botanical Garden, also called the McAllen Nature Center, is a picturesque park in the heart of the city. At 59 acres (23 hectares), it is one of the largest of its kind and is rich in flora and fauna. Nuevo Santander Gallery is named after the 18th-century colony of Southern Texas and Northern Mexico. Located in the heart of Arts District, this building boasts a Spanish-colonial architectural style. Over a century-old doors, iron frames and stained glass-work add character and charm to this gallery. On display are Che and Becky Guerra's collection of artwork and antiques curated from across the world. Browse through Old West guns and saddles; Mexican currency, medals and sombreros; Colonial paintings and sculptures; and authentic collectibles from Europe. The International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) is one of the top museums in South Texas dedicated to these fields.
