Founded in 1911 and built by the U.S. Army soldiers from New York in 1913, the Sacred Heart Catholic Church sits prettily in downtown McAllen. Still an active parish, this yellow brick structure attracts a number of locals as well as tourists. Located on the campus of University of Texas-Pan America, the UTPA Fieldhouse is a basketball arena that can hold 4000 spectators.
