Affectionately known as the "Big Chicken," this Kentucky Fried Chicken's towering painted metal chicken sign with moveable eyes and beak beckons travelers from afar. Built in 1963 for another chicken joint, KFC took over the property in the 1970s and the sign remained. The chain once threatened to move the four-story sign to nearby Smyrna, but a huge public outcry kept the Big Chicken firmly planted on Cobb Parkway. After sustaining significant tornado damage in 1996, PepsiCo helped to rebuild the roadside icon to be even sturdier. Whether you just want to take a gander or grab a bite to eat, be sure to check out the historic photos and souvenir shop inside. The lobby is open from 10:30a-10p and until 11p on weekends. -Rachel Quartarone
