Since 2004, the Atlanta Roller Girls have taken Atlanta by storm. This rough and tumble girl power sport hosts monthly bouts from March to September at the Yaarab Shrine Temple. The league consists of 60 skaters and four teams: the Apocolypstix, the Denim Demons, the Sake Tuyas and the Toxic Shocks. The Roller Girls' sellout bouts pit one home team against the other while a traveling all star team, the Dirty South Derby Girls, take on teams from other cities. With flashy uniforms and skate names like "Demi Gore" and "Tequila SlamHer," bouts are all about campy fun; however, don't be think that this isn't a real sport. These ladies train hard, skate hard and are fierce on the track. See their website for a schedule of upcoming bouts. -Rachel Quartarone
