Toppings range from pepperoni or meatballs to spinach, eggplant and yes, potatoes. Pizza is sold by the pie or the slice. Sandwiches include cheese steaks and hoagies. Salads and finger foods are also part of the menu. Fast service and a large selection makes Joe's a lunch time hot spot. Don't be surprised if a line stretches out of the shop and onto the street.

Philadelphia, PA 19103
There aren't many Mexican restaurants in town, but even if there were, this would still stand out as one of the best. The menu tends towards more subtle flavors, such as Chicken Molé slow cooked, a rich mild flavor. The margaritas are made with fresh juices, the music is the right volume for conversation, and the high ceilings are painted in warm amber shades and softly lit, but not too dark to see the menu.

276 South 20th Street
Philadelphia, PA 19103
A small open-air French café in downtown Philadelphia? Yes. Good luck getting a seat. The menu is generally Mediterranean: hummus, olives, several choices for meat and fish, and a long list of focaccia variations. The decor is minimalist: bare white walls, stainless steel ducts, and cool green window frames. The windows are the dominant feature here. In summer, they're wide open, and a cool breeze carries the flavors from one small table to the next. Sitting here is so pleasant, it's a great place for people-watching.

Latin and Mediterranean cuisines have been independently appreciated all over the world. Not surprising then, that Valanni decided to have the best of both worlds and opted for a Latino-Med menu. The result is that bite-sized tapas, paellas, red mussels and grilled octopus, hummus and pita bread-all can be found on one menu. Located in the arts district of Philadelphia, Valanni could not have asked for a clientele more open to exploring new tastes, as the one that frequents this quarter. The wine list represents world cities just like the food menu. The house cocktails here are especially worth a try. Happy hour drinks are a boon to young professionals who drop in here to unwind in the lounge. Private parties can also be arranged here. Call for timings.

Twenty21 is a fine dining place that also hosts birthday parties, corporate dinners and weddings. The restaurant has a warm amber tone to its decor, which provides the illusion of space to it. Though Twenty21 serves liquor along with its extensive menu list, Tuesday nights are BYOB. You will particularly enjoy visiting here on Friday nights, when the restaurant offers a three-course sumptuous menu for very little indeed.
