If you're an early diner (or looking for a great deal), try the Sunset dinners from 4pm-6pm daily. House specialties are offered at substantial discounts.

Despite its name, this fine dining venue is large and lively with big-time rustic charm. When NAU students set out to impress a date, or are dining on their parents' dollar, this is where they head. The menu concentrates on Italian specialties but also includes a fair share of steak and seafood dishes. The soup, shrimp, salad and fresh fruit bar is legendary. Though the dining room has a somewhat formal air, the adjacent sports bar is usually loud and lively, especially on NAU game days. Opens everyday at 11a.

This prettily appointed Chinese restaurant serves plentiful portions of Mandarin cuisine at very affordable prices. The special "Dinner Deal" includes a choice of entree, an appetizer, steamed or fried rice, soup and fortune cookies. Family and Combination dinners are priced from USD8-10 per person. Lunch specials, served from 11 am-3:45pm, are full feasts. House specialties include Sizzling Rice Seafood (shrimp, scallops, imitation crab and vegetables on sizzling rice), Eight Treasures (shrimp, beef, chicken with peanuts and vegetables) and Chun Pi Beef in orange peel sauce. Full bar service is available.

The Weatherford Hotel's dining room and bar is a must-see dining destination for those with an interest in historic properties. Even if you're not into old buildings, the Arizona-inspired edibles, great beer selection and live entertainment make it worth a visit. Breads, soups and pies are made daily. Sunset dinners are served in the Zane Grey Ballroom. Sidewalk dining is available in mild weather. Full bar service is available with 20 imported beers on tap. Live entertainment is also on tap nightly.

There's even an outdoor heated patio for you to mingle. Don't expect to get in when there's anything happening at Northern Arizona University (NAU) because it will be packed from opening to close. This is a stereotypical college-town bar with big mugs of beer and a menu of burgers, wings, sandwiches and things. Food ranges from USD6-10; drinks USD3-6. On most nights there's DJ music, but occasionally there is a live band. Unless there's live entertainment, there's no cover charge.

It's the perfect place to bring the kids and enjoy a filling feast either indoors or on the patio.
