This Chinese restaurant is in a strip mall along Highway 280, on the edge of Hoover. Don't let the unfortunate location fool you. Inside, you will find the decor sumptuous, the food outstanding and the service excellent. Start with dumplings as an appetizer, and savor them while you wait for the Whole Schezuan Fish (30 minutes preparation time required). If you're dining alone, try the Mongolian Beef or the Moo Shu Chicken. A fully stocked bar is available, as well as private dining rooms for lunch meetings.

Located in the Center at Riverchase on Montgomery Highway, near the Riverchase Galleria Mall, Ali Baba serves up an array of Persian dishes. Try the Lamb Kabab or Tilapia Almondine, followed by a Persian homemade ice cream, Akbar Mashti, for dessert. Persian art and photographs adorn the walls, while rugs, water pipes, and clothing mark the decor. The food is excellent, the portions large. The lunch buffet runs from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sundays and is one of the most popular in Birmingham.

Located in the Hoover area of Birmingham, Mr. P's Deli is known for their fresh cut sandwiches and wide selection of meats. This popular delicatessen has been open for 37 years and is owned and operated by Mr. P himself, Charles Pilleterie. The shop carries imported groceries as well as local products such as Mr. P's handcrafted spices and marinades. Over two dozen sandwiches are on offer featuring the sliced in-house deli meats, sauces and more. Made to order breakfast sandwiches are served from 8:30-11a and can be called in for pickup.

Located on Clairmont Avenue in Forest Park, Bogue's has been serving breakfast and lunch in the same location for several years. Breakfast at Bogue's is a very popular tradition in the Birmingham area, as the crowds will attest. The menu is based on traditional Southern breakfast cooking, featuring homemade biscuits in gravy, grits, pancakes, eggs and lots of pork. The food is cheap, quick, and satisfying.

Located in the Lakeview area near Forest Lake, Sol Y Luna offers an elegant version of Mexican cuisine at reasonable prices. Step into this upscale Mexican cantina where modern art adorns the pastel-colored walls. The menu features tapas as well as very authentic seafood, chicken, and beef dishes. In addition, there is an extensive tequila list to choose from.

Located in the Forest Park area, Silvertron Cafe offers a wide variety of entrees in a casual atmosphere. The décor is tastefully simple and along the lines of a bistro. Take a peek at the numerous photos of historical Burmingham that adorn the walls. The eclectic menu offers American favorites, in addition to several Italian pasta dishes, and a few Tex-Mex entrees as well. The portions are large, and the service is great.

Located in the Lakeview area near Forest Lake, Rocky's Pizza offers a wide array of Italian and American favorites for delivery or take-away only. They will deliver to most hotels and to any Southside and Downtown locations. Rocky's is a contender for the best pizza in town. Take a moment to appreciate the names of the dishes on the menu; many are named after celebrities-for example, Don King Buffalo Wings. 

Located in the Lakeview area near Forest Lake, O.T.'s Neighborhood Sports Grill offers an extensive array of American favorites in a relaxed atmosphere.
