Baltimore, MD 21218
Located in the charming and centrally located Charles Village neighborhood, this relaxed, casual restaurant serves up first-rate, yet moderately priced, Korean and Japanese cuisine. Take a seat at the sushi bar and feast on fresh tuna, salmon and mackerel, or find a quiet booth and enjoy the delicious hot dishes. The bibimbap, a bowl of rice, mixed vegetables and meat, with a fried egg on top, is comfort food at its best. The understated Asian décor and fresh flowers add to the tranquil atmosphere.

2101 North Charles Street
Baltimore, MD 21218
Patrons of this cozy restaurant dine at glass-topped tables, charmed by the vibrant Indian prints that adorn the walls. Though the atmosphere is pleasing, it's the smooth sauces that have locals raving. From a creamy spinach sauce to a tomato-based masala, you'll find a variety of seductive spices. Of course, the specialty here is tandoor-oven-cooked meats. Select from chicken, seafood, lamb or beef dishes. The Lamb Saag, topped with a delightful spinach sauce, or the Chicken Tikka, which is served on a sizzling platter, are wonderful choices.

3811 Canterbury Road
Baltimore, MD 21218
There's a topiary bicycle outside of this lovely Indian restaurant that perfectly accents the staid elegance you'll find inside. Located just north of the Johns Hopkins University's Homewood Campus, this restaurant's interior features dark paneling and burnished brass. It has a kind of reserved formality that's stylish without being intimidating. The Bengali Swordfish, drizzled with mango sauce is a masterpiece, as is the crab malabar. There's also a courtyard, complete with fountain, for warm weather seating.

3107 Saint Paul Street
Baltimore, MD 21218
If you're in town visiting someone who lives or works in Charles Village, chances are they know this very friendly, very casual neighborhood pub. It's far from fancy (vinyl booths, small tables, paneled walls dotted with sports pictures), but for a large number of Hopkins students, Charles Village bohemians and local business people, it's a homely place to grab a beer and burger. There are about 30 beers available, bottled and on tap, and the sandwiches, salads and other bar-fare items are hearty and modestly priced.

10 Art Museum Drive
The Baltimore Museum of Art

Named after the chef's grandmother, Gertrude's is located in the Baltimore Museum of Art. The kitchen lavishes attention on the details of each of its Maryland-style seafood dishes, making sure that each is a unique creation. The two types of crab cakes for instance are distinctly different: the Eastern Shore is traditional, made of crabmeat and little else, while the Gertie is a more modern, spicy affair. Enjoy your meal in the chic and homey pastel dining room or on the outdoor patio.
