In a world where everyone's a foodie and a critic, it's nice to see that there are still places to go that have great food and solid service-all without pretentions. Harry's has been serving Houstonians breakfast and lunch since the 40s. The menu is a fun mix of Greek, Tex-Mex and American favorites including the ever-popular Greek omelet or breakfast tacos, Thanksgiving lunch on Mondays and Thursdays, or slow-cooked lamb shanks. Though it's cafeteria style at a steam table, have no fear that the food will be mushy. They even manage to keep the veggies fresh and crisp. - JoAnn Takasaki
