On weekends, the hippest of the Seattle crowd dolled up in their Saturday-night best dance at this Pioneer Square nightclub. The music pumps on two floors. DJs run the show on weekends, and various bands entertain on weeknights. Each month the walls of this club are decorated with different amateur paintings. Red velvet chairs lend a lounge elegance. Order upscale grill food, plus Thai and Italian dishes as you fuel up yourself for the night ahead.
Owl 'N' Thistle is a casual little Irish pub tucked away on narrow Post Avenue, on the fringe of Pioneer Square, and it clearly encourages its slightly clandestine atmosphere. It serves pub fare consisting of burgers and such, with nothing too Irish except the Guinness beef stew. The good beer selection includes Guinness, which is properly hand-pumped. On any given night, one is likely to hear live Celtic music or a poetry reading. There is also a game room located just off the main bar with pool and darts.

This long-established Pioneer Square nightspot attracts a young, mostly collegiate crowd to its bill of blues, rock, pop and jazz artists. Located in a venerable Seattle building, Doc Maynard's Public House features music that's often great. You'll taste the riffs in your beer. It's loud and hectic, so it's hard to chat, but no one seems to mind. During the day, the Seattle Underground Tour leaves from here. Full bar service is available.

If you are visiting Seattle, then a visit to J&M is a must. This bar is the city's oldest, and dates back as far as 1896! In the early 1890s it moved from its original spot and has been at its current location ever since. The gorgeous interiors of the bar was the handy work of Italian craftsmen, and it still maintains its original luster. The menu is a little limited, but has some good options like barbecue bacon burger, and the salmon burger. At lunch time, some of the burgers are half price, making it a great deal.

At a seating capacity of up to 10,000, Comcast Arena at Everett Events Center may not be the biggest arena in the country, but it does attempt to look better than the average giant block that most arena's are modeled after. The large windows of the entrance make the building appear lighter and more welcoming, as opposed to the heavier, more oppressive feel of standard arenas. Though once inside, the drab, standard architecture takes over. Comcast arenas raison d'etre is to house fantastic, over-the-top productions, along with the masses of people who will pay to see them, and in this, it succeeds.
