Providence has plenty to boast about, from nightclubs to party halls, cinemas to great event venues. Well now here's another addition to the list. Columbus Theater on Broadway has two great event spaces in one location. The main auditorium has 650 orchestra seats and 150 seats on the mezzanine level. Every seat has a great view of the stage so you won't miss a single detail. The acoustics are awesome too! The second venue here, the Cinematheque is more intimate with 200 seats. Both the venues have facilities for film projection.

Visitors to Pastiche Fine Desserts & Café, located off Dean Street on Federal Hill, may find it hard to choose between the numerous mouth-watering confections on display. Their pastries are created from only the freshest and finest ingredients. They offer a wide range of sweets: from tarts and tortes that recall sophisticated European venues, to classic American cakes and brownies. Patrons can sit to enjoy dessert and a cup of tea or specialty coffee at one of the café's small tables, but they fill up fast in the evening. Pastries, which vary seasonally, may be purchased whole or by the piece. -Karen Melchers

There are free hot dogs, grilled food items like burgers, a DJ on some nights and always a jukebox for dancing. There is also a pool table, chairs out back in good weather to take in the view of docks and river, and a small parking lot. This strip of Water Street is jam-packed with bar-hoppers on the weekends.

This club started out as a small, funky beer and wine bar frequented by artists, musicians and academics. The owners soon added rooms, decks and a small grill, and it became one of Providence's most popular nightspots. On hot summer nights, the decks are especially popular; a great place to sip a beer and "people" watch. If you come at dinnertime you can order tasty grilled food. The Hot Club has a small parking lot and is a cash-only establishment. There is no cover charge.
