If you are coming to Lubbock for some sort of large event, chances are that it is held in the Memorial Civic Center. Dedicated to the people who lost their lives in the 1970 Lubbock Tornado, the Civic Center was constructed just after the tornado and showed the spirit and resilience of the people of Lubbock. The Center has an exhibit hall, a banquet hall, theater, pedestrian mall & plaza, and meeting rooms. The largest space, the exhibit hall, can seat just under 5,000 in auditorium style seating. Great for parties and receptions, the plaza is a pretty space with landscaping, running water, and bridges.

For live performances in Lubbock, the Cactus Theater is the place to go. Originally a second-run movie theater and closed for a while before being refurbished and reopened.
