American Social may be a touch out of place on the upscale Las Olas Boulevard in Downtown Fort Lauderdale, but that doesn't keep the city's young (and collegiate) crowd from flocking to this innovative pub. The most unique feature of American Social is in plain view upon walking in: a large wall pocked with self-serve beer taps that allows guests to skip the line and secure their brew. If the walk to the self-serve taps is a deal-killer, then the private tap tables allow guests to stay seated with up to eight friends while pulling drafts of four different craft brews. There are a number of menu items available here that span contemporary American favorites, although the forty beers on tap provide enough of a distraction that you may gloss over the food entirely. The crowd can be a bit boisterous and the bar is a bit loud, meaning a quiet night here is near impossible. If you're in the mood for a raucous night with friends and the convenience of self-service, American Social is for you.

Royal Pig Pub may seem out of place, a smokehouse surrounded by office high rises, but the upscale food and exquisite beer selection do much to clarify the modern appeal of this barbecue and micro-brew hot spot. With 18 craft beers on tap and ten signature cocktails at the ready, the bartenders can't go wrong here. As the name suggests, pork is king at Royal Pig, even appearing in the bar's "Filthy Pig" cocktail, a signature dirty martini garnished with a bacon-wrapped, blue cheese-stuffed olive. The food at Royal Pig is equally top notch, featuring meat-heavy American cuisine prepared by executive chef Stanton Bundy. To taste the best contemporary cuisine Fort Lauderdale has to offer, stop on by the Royal Pig.

Enjoy the best of Mexican food and over 200 varieties of tequila in an upbeat and happening environment. Your taste buds are in for a joyride and all your Mexican-fare favorites are served here, including saucy tortillas, enchiladas, quesadillas, and a spin on fajitas called "molcajetes." The fresh guacamole is made table-side and masterfully enhances the flavors of the dishes that it accompanies. The fun doesn't end until late, so sample tequila shots or chug on Mexican beer. Overall, Rocco's is a fun-filled destination for friendly nights out or family dinners.
