The Victory Theatre has both a larger and a smaller theater, though both theaters are rather small. The theater showcases fairly unknown and critically acclaimed productions, so you can often see a West Coast premiere or even a World premiere. If you want to learn how to act, the theater also teaches acting with basic, intermediate and advanced classes.

Though the name of this restaurant is quite a mouthful, its philosophy is simple: good food and live entertainment. With all the ultra-trendy bars in L.A. for people under 40, it's good to find one where all ages are welcome, including those of the older set. Affordable appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, salads, and soups round out the menu at Joe's, but the real reason folks keep coming back for more is the live music every night. You won't hear some obscure punk band coming out of the speakers. Blues, Rockabilly, Country, Jazz, Swing, karaoke, and classic Rock and Roll are featured every day of the week through great local artists and bands, so be sure to make use of the smooth wooden dance floor. Check their website for a calendar of events. Joe's also has a pool table, darts, TVs, and touch-tone game screens.

Locals trek to Coral Cafe day and night for the wide selection of inexpensive food. Open 24 hours, it is the perfect stop after a night at the bars or clubs. The simple layout and sparse decorations may not add to the ambiance, but it creates a mom-and-pop feel. Make sure to order the tortilla soup, topped with a mound of cheese it may not be the healthiest item on the menu, but it is the best.

If you want to watch that big game in total silence (and without fans of the opposing team around), you'd better find somewhere else. This place is a loud, fun, sports-loving guys' place to drink and yell. The three rooms are decorated with team pennants and beer ads. Besides the ubiquitous big screen TV, there's pool, darts and video games. Sundays during football season are predictably hopping. Go team!

Mr. B's serves Italian-American fare at low prices and offers free live entertainment. The dining area is pleasant, with earth-toned walls and shiny red booths, while the area with the bar and music stage morphs into a bit of a dive. But don't let that scare you away, indeed, it may be one of its charms. Drinks are cheap, service is friendly, and the music is loud. Check the website for a list of upcoming acts.

Sidewalk Studio Theatre is a small theater that shows local productions. The shows are often innovative and occasionally there is a world premiere. The acting and directing is often fantastic, and it's no wonder with Hollywood so close by. There are also several classes that you can attend if you'd like to learn how to act.
