The best way to describe Brennan's Bowery Bar & Restaurant is 'Fun'. The place is always crowded with people either enjoying a meal of chicken wings and fries or just hanging at the bar. This place has always been a local favorite and attracts a lot of locals and tourists alike. So, you can drop in for some cheap but good food or just enjoy watching people from the patio or the bar. The service most of the times is slow due to the large number of crowd which is compensated by the friendliness of the staff.

This quintessential Irish bar is so authentic, you'll think you've walked into a Dublin pub. Loyal customers swear this pub is the best outside the mother country. The fare is Irish pub with a good mix of homegrown New York style. Items include hand-sliced roast beef on a kimmelweck roll, and the Gaelic steak, broiled, then sautéed in an Irish Whiskey cream sauce.

Despite our fast-paced world, the Victorian custom of high tea is growing in popularity. The menu normally consists of scones served with Devonshire cream-an extremely rich, thick cream spread-and lemon curd. Also served are tiny finger sandwiches and desserts; some tea houses also serve additional selections like mini quiche, salads, and soups. Naturally tea is served, with often a dozen or more types of teas to choose from. Josephine's Victorian Tearoom is located in a Victorian farmhouse next to the historic Hull House in Lancaster. High tea is served on Saturday and two weekdays each month by reservations only. A simple tea and luncheon is served each Friday on a walk-in basis. - Christine A. Smyczynski

Myra Vining calls her Seven Owls Tearoom a "big girl playhouse". Located in an 1850s Victorian-era home, it's quite a whimsical place. Vining offers children as well as grown-ups a selection of hats, tiaras, and other items on hand for dress-up. She finds that while high tea lends itself to women in the prime of their lives, younger people, both male and female, also enjoy coming for tea. Seven Owls serves a very traditional high tea, compete with finger sandwiches, scones, and Devonshire cream. They also offer customers a selection of bag, as well as loose tea, since a lot of people aren't familiar with loose teas. - Christine A. Smyczynski

If you're looking for the spot where the theater crowd hangs after a show, this is definitely it. Located on the border between Buffalo's Theater District and the Chippewa Club Zone, this bar-restaurant has an authentic theater feel. The place is packed, especially on weekends. There's a good dance floor and plenty of tunes to get you singing along. The food is mostly standard pub and bar fare with a dash of Italian thrown in. But people come here mostly for the ambience and good cheer. The venue is open Monday to Friday from 11:30 a.m and from Saturday to Sunday, 4 p.m. onwards.
