Berklee Performance Center a 1,200-seat theatre is one of Boston's premier live music venues, and there is not a bad seat in the house. The stage usually hosts jazz, folk and world music shows. There are also occasional rock and pop shows, classical performances, theater productions and comedy shows. In addition, it is home to shows by Berklee College of Music instructors and students.

Dating back to 1903, Jordan Hall is a National Historic Landmark that is highly regarded in the city. Warm, intimate and with amazing acoustics, Jordan Hall stages free concerts annually, including performances by conservatory students, faculty and ensembles. Guests artists have included the likes of Nancy Argenta, soprano; Finnur Bjarnason, tenor; and Christine Brandes, soprano.

Home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, this impressive structure is known as one of the world's premier concert halls. Massive chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and replicas of Greek and Roman statues lining the walls gives it a medieval look. The BSO and Pops perform here during winter. They are often joined by celebrity conductors, soloists and singers. Symphony Hall also hosts many visiting orchestras and popular performers.

The French Library and Cultural Center makes its home in two historic mansions in the Back Bay. Although it offers paid memberships, others are welcome to visit its extensive library for free. The center offers many other reasons for tourists to stop in. It hosts a number of free art exhibits and concerts and has an interesting mix of programs, including lectures, wine tastings and cooking demonstrations.

Museum of Science is certainly impressive! Within the Museum of Science you'll find a planetarium, an IMAX movie theater, and a two-story Van de Graaf generator capable of producing 2.5 million volts of electricity. Children love the interactive discovery center, live animal exhibit and the dinosaur exhibit with fossils and life-size models. These and the hundreds of other exhibits make this museum one of Boston's top attractions. This educational and entertaining museum is perfect for the whole family.

City Girl Caffe, located in Inman Square, is a must-visit if you like thin-crusted pizza and inexpensive Italian food. The restaurant is tiny and the tables are packed together, but the food is great. Pizza toppings are varied and also can be added to calzones. The sandwiches here are laden with veggies and meat and are good enough for a lunch meal. The salad sauces especially are simply outstanding. The crowd frequenting this compact eatery is a mix of professionals, students and teens. The staff is friendly without being too overbearing.

Club Cafe is an elegant restaurant with white linen-draped tables and two very popular lounges. The Moonshine and Satellite Lounges were voted as the Best of Boston by Boston Magazine for best gay and lesbian nightspot. The restaurant's lunch menu features sandwiches, soups, salads and a few entrees. The dinner menu includes roast tenderloin of beef, which is listed as a club classic. Halibut, swordfish, duck, pork, chicken and pasta entrees are also available.

The Grand Canal could be the most elegant of all of Boston's Irish pubs. The darkness of most Irish bars is replaced here by soft red walls, high ceilings and a crackling fireplace. The full service bar, which has a wide selection of draft beer, is always busy before and after Celtics and Bruins home games. The menu offers standard pub grub as well as Irish specialties such as Corned Beef and Cabbage, Fish and Chips, and Bangers and Mash. The pub has live music on Friday and Saturday nights.

The Caliterra Bar & Grille at the Hilton in the Financial District serves cuisine influenced by Northern California and Tuscany in Italy. The large, L-shaped dining room features red mahogany columns and walls with impressive murals. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Thin-crusted brick-oven pizza is on the menu and seared halibut and grilled pork tenderloin are two of the house specialties. Enjoy these tasty preparations with a wine from the bar.

Pagliuca's Restaurant is another one of the very small Italian restaurants that calls the North End home. Pagliuca's serves traditional Italian cuisine which is standard home-style fare with several antipasto choices and many pasta selections. The menu also features some quality seafood or chicken entrees. There isn't much in the way of atmosphere here with paper place mats on the tables and linoleum-covered floors but the food and prices more than make up for it. Alcohol is served.
