Garrison Park Harbor is one of the finest establishment in South Austin that serves delicious seafood and steaks with some thirst-quenching refreshing drinks. One should try the crab cakes and fried shrimp, which may not be too different from other restaurants but is certainly fresh. The drinks are available at reasonable prices, while the staff is quite professional with their service. And for some entertainment, local bands come and do their bit. To sum it up, this place serves local seafood and music at its best.

Longbranch Inn, yet another old bar in Austin. With cocktails served at its best, this bar has a lot to offer. Opened in the '30s, this bar has occasional live music apart from the daily music to set the mood. The decor is quite authentic as a lot of Texas history is personified. Apart from that, bartenders are very friendly and the crowd seems to be nice too. Longbranch Inn is certainly the favorite among locals and tourist alike.

Scoot Inn, one of the oldest bars in Texas, is still going strong till date. And rightly so, as the amount of history that this bar has to offer with its interiors is inevitable. Apart from the classic decor, this beer garden serves beer and other drinks at great prices. Music is the core product of this dive bar, as people move to the sounds of Rock & Pop, Blues, Alternative Rock, Funk and lots more. A jukebox too to add to this musical atmosphere. One of the most visited and the best dive bars in Austin, is the place to go to at least once.

Jalapeno wings, quesadillas and crispy flautas, they have them all, with the meats roasted on a rotisserie. Don't worry about bringing children here for the kids meal option offers choices between enchilada, quesadilla or the favorites, taco and burger. If the spice gets to you, firefight with the margaritas or martinis and ice teas for the kids. The cantina also sells t-shirts and gift certificates. Santa Rita Tex-Mex Cantina has Happy Hours throughout the week and it's great if you want to speed the 2 martini limit!
Serving as a rare hipster oasis in an area that's otherwise uniformly rustic (a restaurant specializing in chicken giblets sits nearby), Barfly's brings in the scenesters by way of youthful camaraderie, a revered, genre-bending jukebox and some of the most genial bartenders for miles around. Inside, the bar is dark, dank and loud, but all in a good way, whereas the lower backyard area, which is accessible by staircase and dotted with picnic tables, is better equipped for mingling among strangers. And though the available beer selection does cover all the bases, this is by and large a liquor bar.
Operational for over a decade, Ginny's Little Longhorn Saloon has earned the reputation for being the city's country-music stop. It's not your usual nightclub with thumping music; but is a great place for drinks and good music. It hosts live musical performances every Thursday - Billy Dee & Redd Volkaert, Justin Trevino and Dale Watson have kept this place alive on several occasions. So stop by for a memorable night at this simple place, which not surprisingly, has a cult following.
