With a history going back to the 1960s and the glory days of Gaslight Square, O'Connell's Pub has long been a treasured hangout for St. Louisians. Gaslight Square and its arty environs are long gone, but O'Connell's still thrives in the southside home it has had since 1972. The long, dark bar is a friendly one, with a clientele that ranges from academics and artists to businessmen and students. The hamburgers are legendary, and the fish and chips are just as good.
