The Lovers Key Resort is a tall, circular tower located on a small private island between Fort Myers Beach and Bonita Beach. The one- and two-bedroom suites have fully equipped kitchens. Most Hampton Inns are found near major highways, so the Fort Myers Beach Hampton Inn located two miles from the beach is a treat. This hotel features tropical Florida decor. The four-story hotel has interior corridors, an exercise room and a heated outdoor pool. It offers a buffet breakfast bar, with a simple variety of breakfast staples like cereal, bagels and coffee, plus a business center with a fax machine and computer. For meals, walk over to Ballenger's Seafood Restaurant or several other local eateries

The Pink Shell Beach Resort is located on the northern tip of Estero Island, a thin strip of land with the Gulf of Mexico on one side and Matanzas Pass on the other. The seven-story hotel offers all the amenities to make a family vacation enjoyable, including three pools, a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, a private beach, a general store and organized activities for kids. All of the rooms are non-smoking (smoking is allowed on the outdoor patio or balcony) and feature kitchens.

The GrandView Resort is a tall towering building jutting up from the trees and waters of Estero Bay. The resort has one-bedroom suites, with private balconies and full kitchens. There are children's activities, a heated pool, sauna and barbecue. Fishing and charters are available from the boat docks, where occasionally manatees are seen. If you want a relaxing place to hold a conference, or an ideal place for a romantic sunset by the beach, DiamondHead, the "Jewel of Fort Myers Beach", is worth a look. The 12-story, L-shaped building contains 124 designer suites. All suites are one-bedroom, with private balconies, efficiency kitchens, and a sofa bed in the living room. There are six meeting rooms, holding up to 200 people, a ballroom and a conference coordinator to help. It is close to loads of eateries and entertainment venues, and just 30 minutes from the airport.

This posh beach resort, located on the quieter, south end of Estero Island, is perfect for unwinding. The 16-story building is filled with one- and two-bedroom suites with light wood furnishings, private balconies, full kitchens, washer/dryers and a large marble Jacuzzi tub in every suite. For true decadence, try the penthouse, which has a fireplace, rooftop sundeck and a price tag to match. There are no designated non-smoking rooms, so mention if you do not like smoke when making reservations; the room will be cleaned with an ozinator.

The luxurious GullWing Beach Resort on the south end of Estero Island seems to point to the ocean. The rooms are all one-, two-, or three-bedroom suites decorated with blue accessories, and come fully loaded with comforts like private balconies, full kitchens, Jacuzzi tubs, and washer/dryers. If you brought work with you, there is a business center with computer access. With all that luxury, you may forget to head down to the pool, spa, tennis court and private beach. You can choose from beachfront, bay or island views.

There are 76 rooms at the Best Western Beach Resort on Estero Island, and 76 memorable sunset views. Each maroon-tinged room in the four-story hotel has a private balcony overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. A few feet of white sand, some palm trees and a few umbrella-covered lounge chairs are all that separate the large square heated pool from the ocean.
