With its colorful front garden and stage coach centerpiece, this place looks more like a bed and breakfast than a budget motel. However, the red neon "Vacancy/No Vacancy" sign is a dead giveaway. Still, as far as motels go, this one isn't bad. Large guest rooms are available on a recently renovated property in a peaceful neighborhood. The landscaping is very pretty. Guest amenities even include a sauna and one or two rooms have fireplaces.
While this place does offer something beyond a roof and a bed, rooms show some wear and tear and guest services are minimal. Amenities include in-room hairdryers and kitchenettes. The property is a few miles outside Monterey and Carmel.
Its modern yet charming architecture and fantastic location separate this inn from the ranks of the interchangeable type of Middle America motels. This hotel is perfect for budgeters or solo business travelers who want decent accommodations but do not need a lot of extras.
